![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gareth is still vulnerable to rockets due to splash damage and it's shield will be broken after sustaining heavy damage.Īs stated above, the Gareth's squishy base HP means that destroying its shield will make it extremely weak. While the shield adds greatly to the Gareth's resilience, it does not render it invulnerable. When engaging against an off-guard enemy, try to stay behind them for as long as possible and only activate Phalanx Mode when they finally lock-on to you, as having it inactive increases your speed to stay behind them and also defend you from an additional angle (the enemy's hull will serve as a shield in that direction). Gareth also excels at flanking opponents and catching unsuspecting targets. As the Gareth can very well hold its own in a brawl, forcing interceptors to walk through sniper fire isn't essential but is highly recommended to increase Gareth's chances of winning the fight. An extra benefit is that using Phalanx Mode is actually unwise in this scenario as not only does it make the Gareth slower but also forces it to turn towards the snipers, which means it cannot properly observe what's happening at the beacon it hopes to capture. With good speed, Gareth makes for an excellent beacon capper. Gareth is well suited for countering stealth bots, since the Gareth's weapons are situated low on its hull and can hit the enemies even while Stealth is engaged. Gareth has extremely low health but its shield has relatively high hitpoints, allowing Gareth to do some close-in engagement and skirmishing against medium and heavy bots. Extremely susceptible to splash damage weapons (and later special)Įquipped with one medium and one light hardpoint the Gareth has decent firepower for a light bot in the lower leagues.Weak against kinetic weapons (deal double damage to its shield, which takes up the majority of its total HP).No very distinct 'advantage period' although there is one.Extremely resilient to energy weapons (due to its physical shield). ![]() When active, the shield blocks incoming projectiles from hitting its front torso, however, the robot's movement speed is decreased by 20%. The Gareth's Phalanx Mode ability lets it switch its shield to the front, similar to how a medieval knight uses a shield. Gareth has a built-in physical shield located on the robot's left side. Support sometimes also includes stat-boosters and recovery, like Healers that help teammates regain health. The Gareth is a light robot with one light and medium hardpoint. Having more firepower is important for Defenders, as they will need to outlast enemy robots during an assault. Defenders often make up the most, using similar high-armor robots to Tanks, but usually with long-ranged weapons. On the support side, there are a variety of roles. Ambushers are just the opposite, using robots with higher speeds to attack enemies and break their defensive lines, all at the expense of low health. These players try to take the bulk of the enemy fire and will tend to be the backbone of the assault. The Tank tends to use robots with higher health and armor stats, usually at the expense of speed (which often can be a benefit, as it makes their robot more targetable). There are largely two major offensive playstyles, based on the balance between speed and health/armor: the Tank and the Ambusher. And to do this, they will need to suit themselves with a robot that effectively gears itself for each player's preferred playstyle. On the team side, there are a few roles that players can play to increase their efficiency.
